Must-Know Details about Horse Arena Footing




Just like building a dam or a house, preparing a riding surface for the horses is not a child’s play. A perfect riding surface is what provides cushion of comfort to the horses’ legs by minimizing friction as much as possible. At the same time, the footing must be prepared in such a way that it is strong enough for traction. It must not be slick or dusty. The ideal footing must not be abrasive to the animals’ hooves. It is also important to make sure ahead of footing installation that it will be easy and inexpensive for maintenance. 

Cost of footing depends on several factors including reputation of the installer, type and quality of the materials used and cost of transportation. 

Material for Footing

There is no universal hard and fast rule in regards to material used for horse arena footing. Natural irregular materials like sand is sourced from the excavation work providers to prepare footing. However, that is not the only element used in the process and several other materials and mixtures are also made a good use. Choice and amount of materials depend on the competitions to be hosted on the tracks.
Quality of materials varies from one place to another.  So, if you have a project for international competition, use the best quality ingredients to make a stronger and safer footing for the speedy creatures.
